Proper Protection For Real Peace of Mind

When you rent a vehicle from Budget our priority is to give peace of mind. To do this we have partnered with Royal and Sun Alliance Insurance for Insurance Protection and International SOS for emergency assistance, both world leaders in their field.

Motor Vehicle Insurance

Inclusive daily rental rates include vehicle insurance and third party liability, including property cover, and Loss Damage Waiver (LDW). Please note that an excess applies to all rentals. If a customer is involved in an accident that cannot be recovered from a third party or there is a loss, they will need to pay a Baht 8,000 or 10,000 excess, depends on car category, (see below). Insurance coverage is subject to the terms and conditions of the rental agreement, but follows generally accepted international standards.

Detailed below are the coverages of international standard Insurance Protection available in Thailand from Budget:

Compulsory Third Party (CTP) Insurance - Included in Rates
The Road Protection Act provides limited injury and death cover to anyone injured or killed in an accident. All parties are covered up to Baht 80,000 per person, except the driver of the vehicle, who (if at fault) is limited to Baht 15,000.

Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) - Included in Rates
LDW provides comprehensive coverage to the renter for own vehicle damage, as well as liability protection against third party injury, death or vehicle and property damage. Liability for bodily injury or death of any third person, including passengers, caused by accident is covered up to Baht 5 million per person or not exceeding Baht 20 million per accident. All claims shall be determined by the courts in the Kingdom of Thailand.

This coverage limits the renters responsibility to a maximum of Baht 8,000 for CPMR, ECAR, EVAR, CCAR, FFAR - 10,000 Baht for IFAR, IVAR, FCAR, PCAR in the event of loss or damage to the rented vehicle where recovery cannot be made from a third party, subject to the renters compliance with the Rental Agreement. In other words, the maximum exposure that a renter will have in the event of non-recoverable loss or damage is Baht 8,000 or 10,000 Baht, providing the Details of Use Restrictions at Item 3 of the Rental Agreement are not contravened. If Use Restrictions are contravened, the LDW is void.

Personal Accident and Effects (PAE) Insurance - Not included in rates.

PAE Insurance is an optional protection plan that can be purchased at time of rental for Baht 150 per day plus VAT . It provides additional protection up to a maximum of:

Hospitalisation, Medical and Ambulance expenses
Baht 250,000 per person

Death Benefits
Baht 1,000,000

Personal Effects
Baht 40,000 per vehicle

Under the Hospitalization and Ambulance Expenses, the renter and passengers are protected for accidental injury while using the vehicle. By calling the Emergency 24 Hour Hotline, action will be taken to ensure that appropriate medical care is provided, including evacuation to the nearest center of medical excellence.

The Personal Effects extension excludes money and covers damage, loss or theft of your personal effects and baggage arising from an accident in your rental vehicle.

The maximum amount payable under this cover is Baht 1,000,000 on any one accident.

The driver at the time of accident must have been authorized within the rental agreement, as coverage is void for unauthorized drivers.

To obtain cover under these plans, simply ask the Budget representative at time of rental and sign your acceptance of cover on your rental agreement.

All claims require the full completion of a Budget Accident Report Form. Please note that Budget does not provide bail bond with any of its insurance policies.

The protection we provide is undewritten by Royal and Sun Alliance Insurance (Thailand) Limited, and details of the vehicle insurance policy may be obtained upon your written request.
