The King's House @Coffee Shack - Coffee Bay Description
The Kings House has the most spectacular views in Coffee Bay, it is a traditional, thatched A-frame house, with a lounge area, self-catering kitchenette, bathroom (shower, basin and toilet). A rustic cottage with 2 small bedrooms, each with a double bed, bedside lights and plugs. Above the two rooms is a low open-plan mezzanine, with an additional double bed and two single beds. There is a small deck out front with a braai area and outside seating. Perfect for a group of friends or a family
The office is open from 7am -10pm daily and there is always a manager on duty outside office hours.
Coffee Bay is still very much a traditional rural village, very detached from the daily hussle and bussle. The closest well stocked shop is at Ngcwanguba, 20km from Coffee Bay. There are basic shops in Coffee Bay to buy bread, milk and dry goods. There is no ATM in Coffee Bay, but you will find cows on the beach, traditional ceremonies and lots of untouched open space. Known as the Wild Coast, you will see it lives up to its name as you take a walk along some of the most scenic beaches and coastlines in the world
Coffee Bay is 80km off the N2, take the exit approx 20km south of Mthatha. The road from the N2 is sealed, however it is best to arrive during daylight hours as there are potholes and stray animals to deal with. Coffee Shack runs a daily shuttle to the Shell Ultra City near Mthatha, where the Baz Bus and mainline buses drop off. Contact the office to arrange a pick-up.
