Situated on the edge of the historic village of Raithby, with clear views of the majestic Helderberg, the hamlet of Raithby Vines lies nestled amongst the vineyards of Post House and Ken Forrester just off the R44.
A historical cottage with character dating back to early 1900 was originally part of a large farm. The cottage forms now part of Raithby Vines Residential Estate which was totally restored in the spirit of the original cottages erected in Raithby.
The Cottage with a beautiful shady patio overlooking the vineyards and the Helderberg mountains has two bedrooms - room #1 and #2 - with a separate bathroom with shower, toilet, heater and basin, which are shared between the two guest rooms.
The owners of the cottage, Christine and Peter and their dog live here and have their own private space in the main house. The cottage is away from the main house under a majestic oak tree with beautiful gardens and water fountain.
Peter has a discerning palate for great wines. His private cellar can be shared at an additional charge with visitors that are wine enthusiasts.
Guest access is through a separate entrance, secure and well lit.
You are free to make use of the fire pit.
Continental Breakfast can be prepared at an additional charge. Your Hosts are available for special requests. Please give us 24 hours notice.
A refrigerator is available in the double room.
Tea/Coffee/Milk is provided for the 1st night stay only. Replenishment can be provided at an additional cost.
Strand beach is 9km
The copper kettle restaurant is conveniently across the road as an alternative to self catering. The owner is prepared to provide daily meals to students from Wednesday to Saturday @ R195 per meal.
The best way to get around is through a hired car or Über in the evenings if you are going to enjoy some lovely SA food & wine. Alternatively 3 km walks in the vineyards on country roads opposite our property .
The cottage has been successfully rented for 1 -2 month periods to single overseas students doing their internship. The 2nd bedroom is converted into a lounge/dining area with microwave, suitable for convenience meals. Washing and ironing is available weekly at a cost of R 75/load.
Situated mid-way between Stellenbosch and Somerset West with easy access to the university, beach, shopping centers and vineyards.
The yard has a dog which should be left alone. The dog is kept indoors at night.
