Kalimpong - The ridge where we play, is a district town of Darjeeling Hills. The town is a saddle, nestled between the two hillocks - Deolo and Durpin. It is here on the Deolo Hill that ;Delo Highs ; stands.
Delo Highs was established in 2022, and is at a distance of about 7km from the bustling Kalimpong Town. The resort rests facing the erstwhile kingdom of Sikkim, and the revered Mt. Kanchenjunga is just a glimpse away, stretching it snow capped ranges into Nepal(in the West) and Bhutan (in the East). The property overlooks a rich vegetation, lush green landscape, and sleepy hamlets interspersed among them. A look down into the valley, one can see the winding ridges along meandering Teesta river. The mesmerising vistas is visible from each room, rejuvenating the soul and refreshing ones mind. The rooms extend to a balcony, that opens up to this expansive view, and where one is flushed by the misty winds of the Himalayas. As sun sets and the stars appear above, the distant places glow up with new lights, like stars on earth or candles in a Diwali night.
Delo Highs offers an in-house Kitchen service, providing an amalgamation of Indian, Bhutanese and local cuisines, reflective of the diverse cultures and communities that make up Darjeeling Hills.
In and around Deolo, there are a good number of things to do and places to explore, the Deolo Park itself which is a must-visit ; of every explorer/tourist visiting Kalimpong, is only a 5 minute walk from the compound. One can spare some time at the Science Centre or take an adrenalin infusing yet soothingly quiet paragliding flight, wherein one gets a total 360; view of Kalimpong and its adjoining hills. Hiking to nearby villages will give you an insight of the culture and livelihood of the local inhabitants.
Yet even for those who would rather prefer a less active schedule, there is the Hanuman Mandir and the Buddha Park to visit, and just soak in all the freshness, serenity and peace.
