Footloose Camps - Manali Description
Located in Hamta Valley (the starting point of the popular Hamta Pass trek) we are only 9 km from the Manali Mall Road. The nearest popular town is Sethan. We are a 150-year-old mudhouse converted into a backpacker hostel. We have 2 private rooms, 2 dormitories (4-bed and 2-bed) and 3 tents. We promise to deliver a true Himachali experience and a chance to stay amidst an Apple Orchard, with an amazing view of the adjoining Kullu Valley. Total land: approx 43k sq feet. Total occupancy: 16. Located on a massive Apple farm, FootlooseCamps is an ideal location for those who are looking for a place to relax, unwind and just be! We have... 1) 2 Private Rooms 2) 2 mix-dormitories (2bed and 4bed) 3) 3 Luxury tents Located at least 500m higher than Manali, we claim to offer THE BEST VIEWS of Kullu valley, than any other campsite/guesthouse in the region -- after all, if a full-time travel blogger/photographer FootlooseDev (footloosedev.com) chose to start his first hospitality venture nowhere else but here, there must be something special about the place. Other than relaxing and soaking in the beauty of the Himalayas, there is enough to see and do nearby. We offer rappelling, jumaring and bouldering experiences. For the Do-It-Yourself experience, one can explore the ways of the mountains on their own. Trek through the forests, collect firewood, climb rocks, drink chai with a shephard, or spot some rare migratory birds -- do whatever you find fancy! Come and enjoy the real Buddhist Himachali experience. Most of the things - from local architecture to food to attire has a touch of Spiti and Lahauli tradition. About 90% of the families in Sethan are Buddhists. We provide a range of food including Indian, Chinese and Continental. DRINKS Lugri - a locally beer made with fermented rice. It is white in color and very smooth. Must try! Ara - a distilled and slightly stronger version of Lugri. Cow milk - farm fresh cow milk. Taste so much better! AND LOTS MORE! Feel the difference in taste of local vegetables: Red potatoes, white potatos (both local variety), palak, sirso, raddish, band gobi, corriander. Also try the local farm ghee! Smells out of the world. You can access the entire space and meander around the Apple Farm as you find fancy. We have two shared toilets (with western seat) and a hot shower. You can access our common sitting/bonfire area and read some inhouse books. I am mostly available at the campsite to share whatever information they need, or share about my 2+ years of nomadic life if they like to hear about. Vinod, the co-host, who was born and brought up in Sethan and Manali area (and is an avid Hindi/English speaker) is also available at the campsite full-time. He loves talking about his Goan experiences and the stories of his forefathers who happen to be horsehearders and used to travel across Tibet-Spiti-Kullu area. Sethan is a tiny Buddhist town located 15 km from the popular town of Manali in Himachal Pradesh. Located in Pir-Panjal range, the Sethan is ideal for camping and trekking in summer, while snowboarding and skiing in winter. To reach Sethan, and moreover our campsite, you need to have your own vehicle or hire a taxi from Manali. You can navigate the campsite on Google Maps using the search works "Himalayan Lounge and Footloose Camps".
