This is a whole house for your exclusive use, with three bedrooms - 2 with King-sized beds and daybed sofa, and 1 large-sized twin bedroom, all air-conditioned with en-suite bathrooms.
Skylights allow plenty of natural light to flood the main house while oversized windows and doors allow cooling cross ventilating breezes.
There is a large modern chef's open kitchen free for guests to use (houseboys can cook breakfast and we can arrange a chef subject to availability), and three main sitting areas;
The primary dining area is in the main room of the house.
The Peacocks Lounge at Skylight House, our signature upstairs entertaining area, overlooks the countryside with great views of paddy fields. Equipped with premium satellite channel TV, this relaxing, airy space is ideal for enjoying breezy sundowners to the 'soundtrack' of wild peacock calls! Additionally, there is an adjoining washroom off this large space.
There is a third sitting area on the patio downstairs which adjoins the swimming pool. A great space for inside-outside living so conducive to the tropical environs. Think al fresco dining by the pool!
The fully equipped kitchen is free for the guests to use.
Smoking is not permitted inside the house.
Parking is free.
You and your group have the entire house to enjoy.
Guests will be welcomed by our wonderful House Manager Sathish who will also help guests settle in and give advice on local dining, activities and attractions. Guests may choose to have as much or as little interaction with the staff according to their preference.
There are two houseboys to attend to all housekeeping duties.
The tranquil community of Mihiripenna, characterised by lush greenery, large mature trees and paddy fields offers convenience and a range of activities for all ages and interests.
The Why House boutique hotel is close by and Skylight House guests can arrange to either enjoy a gourmet meal there or order meals from the catering menu to be delivered to the house. Wijaya Beach, a popular restaurant/ bar serving delicious wood fired pizzas on the beach is less than 5 minutes away. Nearby Sri Gemunu Hotel serves delicious authentic Sri Lankan curries and enjoys a perfect location at the signature rock promontory on the beach. You may wish to rent a daybed there for a small fee as 'base camp' for the day to enjoy the fresh sea breezes underneath swaying palms.
Unawatuna Beach with a wide choice of restaurants and bars is 10 minutes away, including the well-established Kingfisher seafood Restaurant. Secret Garden, a unique property specialises in yoga classes in their yoga dome. If you would like a superb Ayurvedic or other type of massage, The Sanctuary Spa is the place to go!
On the way to Galle Fort, if you like history, Nooit Gedache Heritage Hotel, built in 1735 as the then-Dutch Governor's country house, is not to be missed as a destination venue for a meal or special occasion with your group. You can even walk to Jungle Beach from the property in 45 minutes! UNESCO Heritage Site Galle Fort is just a further 10 minutes away. All by tuk-tuk and all can be arranged by Sathish.
Tuk-tuks are best for local transport and easily arranged by House Manager Sathish.
