Our Home
“Baan Tai Homestay“ is a modern single Thai style house with 2 floors and 4 rooms. It is able to accommodate a group of 10 people. Originally, it was a house that a daughter has given to her beloved mother. Recently, it has been renovated to welcome tourists all over the world. The house is divided into three parts. The front yard garden, the house and the back yard garden. At the front yard garden are flowering plants while at the back yard garden are hydroponic vegetables. Here you also find Barbecue corner for yourself. The house is quite large. Each room is Thai Contemporary decorated with Batik Thai style.
What you can do at “Baan Tai Homestay“
Our “Baan Tai Homestay“ is distinct from other places as we specially focus on the friendly services given to our guests. Here, after coming back from adventure like swimming, scuba diving or watching at hawks, someone at home is waiting for you. You won’t feel either boring or lonely because “Pee Nom“ (sisterly Nom ), one of our owner, will cook dinner, take care, and treat you like the member of her family. You can choose any hydroponic vegetables you like from the backyard, cook by yourself or let “Pee Nom“ cook for you as she specializes in both authentic southern Thai food and western food. You can also have a party at home. But if that doesn’t make you tired enough, in the evening, you can go fishing with “Ko Too“. There are a lot of squids and fishes in the deep blue sea. Don’t forget to take the squids and fishes you catch to make breakfast. Doesn’t it sound funny, amusing and fantastic?
LOCATION
Chumphon : Past and Present
Chomporn province, an exotic area of southern Thailand, this charming and peaceful province is surrounded by Thai bay shore and small hills of Tanao Sri mountain range. It is not just its beauty that attracts people all over the world to visit the place, but also its history which is equally as interesting as its scenery.
The long history of Chumphon can be traced back to Sukhothai period ( 1238-1438 ) and Ayutthaya periods ( 1351-1767 ). During those old days, Chumphon was considered as the fortress city of Sukhothai kingdom and Ayutthaya kingdom . The name Chumphon itself perhaps originated from these particular historical moments. It is assumed that the word “Chumphon” comes from the word “Chumnumporn” which literarily means gathering together for blessing. Historical evidences show us that during the given historical time , worship ceremony was conducted here.
As time goes by Chumphon has been developed into a modern place like other provinces in Thailand. Despite this change, still traditional village life style can be found in Chumphon especially in Patew District . Surrounded by exotic shores, small hills and coconut and palm trees, Patew District is able to offer visitors fantastic experiences. It is so relaxing just to sit at the tranquil beaches like Tung Wua Laen, Aaw Bang Jak and Had Bor Mao where you can see only soft creamy sand beaches, crystal clear water and bright blue sky. However, if you love adventure, Patew District can provide you chance to visit Kao Dinsaw (a small hill). Here you can enjoy watching magnificent sunrise and thousands of hawks.
The most adventurous activities in Patew District as many visitors agree may be the island trips . The islands in Chumphon : Koh Yor , Koh Viang and Koh Teab are still covered with virgin forests. Apart from breathing fresh air , watching lush green trees and observing animal habitats, the enjoyment in these islands lies in the popular activities like snorkeling. Diving to see coral reefs and sea lives is so impressive that you will never forget and wish to come back here again.
Local life in agriculture and fishing can be seen in Patew District too because now Koh Viang is made as a learning center for crab cultivation. Besides, the visitors will be amazed by the local market where you can get fresh fish , crabs , shrimps and other sea animals. But if you are the lazy ones who don’t want to cook by yourself, although being a small district, you can find sea food restaurants in Patew District . In addition, night life with local Thai and western music is still available for you to kill the empty time.
One of the most interesting places that you may love to visit in Chumphon is a wooden bridge . The Wooden Bridge in Chumphon is 1 of 4,000 projects created by the dying king, King Rama 9. The Wooden Bride in Chumphon has been completed recently. It serves as the water reservoir helping prevent flooding caused by heavy rain and is viewed as the new tourist destination. The visitors can enjoy cool breeze and sunset on the bridge.
What makes Patew District different from other sea beaches in Thailand is it is not touristy at all. When compared with other places, tranquility is its strength. Some visitors even call here “The Road to Romantic Journey”. Its being peaceful, quiet and calm causes everyone to fall in love with the place.
For visitors who have never been here before, traveling to Patew District in Chumphon province is very easy. Traveling by bus , car and train is always available. Nevertheless, for foreigners traveling by train would be the most convenient way because there are railway stations in Chumphon. So you can take a train coming to Saphli Station directly.
It is fortunate to hear that nowadays the tourism organization in Thailand realizes the importance of Patew District as a newly attractive tourist destination. As a result, the development plan to facilitate the visitors is implemented . The area around Sadet Luang Chumphon Udomsak spirit house at Saplee Tambon (Tambon = Sub-district) now is developed to give good services for them.
Least but not less, Patew District, Chumphon is a place where you can get plenty of local coffee shops too. Since it is a place of growing coffee, visitors should not miss a chance to drink coffee here. In other places of Thailand having coffee with bakery is a common practice , but it is not like that in Patew District. Here you have to have coffee with local Thai desserts. Doesn’t it sound interesting enough for you?
Most welcome to Patew District . We are ready to render you warm reception. Whenever you feel like traveling, please do not hesitate to come to Chumphon, the gate way of southern Thailand and the land of coffee garden and rectangular shape beaches. We are also famous for lady finger bananas and bird’s nests.
