The Schaalsee Biosphere Reserve is located directly on the former inner-German border. A circular hike across the Strangen peninsula and along the Kirchensee impressively shows how formerly populated areas and border installations have been and are being reclaimed by nature. The just over 40-kilometer-long bike tour around the Schaalsee is also very beautiful.
