The Property is made of 2 main units, one of which is an old “lamia”, a typical Apulian dwelling which was used by farmers working their land. Adjacent to the lamia is an old Saracen trullo, a conical construction which is typical of this region and which Guests shall extensively admire in the near town of Alberobello. Lamia del Riccio is the epitome of chic outdoor living! The warm Mediterranean climate will make you enjoy the stunning private outdoor area that invites Guests to unplug and unwind. With its sun-drenched terrace by the swimming-pool, a 50 sqm gazebo offering a fully equipped kitchen and a lounge area and more lounge areas with small tables and chairs scattered along the garden, this villa makes for an excellent relaxation destination, a real peaceful oasis. The gardens are expansive, brightly flowered, with an array of Mediterranean plants, cacti, olive and fruit trees. Lamia del Riccio is what we would call “home away from home”! The villa is located in the countryside of Ostuni Citta’ Bianca (affectionately known as the “White City”, in reference to the city’s white washed stone constructions), yet within driving distance from Ostuni’s city center. The location is ideal for those wishing to enjoy their vacation while discovering this magical region. With the closest beaches being less than 20 minutes drive away, Lamia del Riccio is the perfect country and seaside escape. Not only, the location combines rural tranquillity with short distances to an array of bustling charming towns and so much cultural interest and history to discover: the gastronomic treasure town of Ceglie Messapica, the picturesque trulli town of Alberobello, Locorotondo, the breathtaking Polignano a Mare, the nice sea-side town of Monopoli, the fascinating baroque city of Lecce and the town of rocks Matera. Apulia, located in the “heel” of Italy’s boot is famous for having a warm climate all year round, for being surrounded by the waters of both the Ionian and the Adriatic seas and for having an intense past due to numerous dominations that left behind a rich culture and historical architecture. The Property is made of 2 main units: a central “lamia” and an adjacent Saracen trullo. The interior design of Lamia del Riccio – curated with superb care by the renowned Interior Designer Gian Paolo Guerra (Studio Guerra sas), is a stylish blend of old – the whitewashed stone, the trulli and the lamia on one hand, and new – contemporary furniture and sleek fittings, on the other. The villa has been restored to retain much of the original spirit of the building while offering unobtrusive contemporary flair. All decorative pieces have been carefully selected, together with iconic vintage pieces of furniture that perfectly blend with the rest of the furniture, coming from the most renowned Italian design brands, such as Gervasoni, Moab 80, Scic, Talenti Outdoor and Emu, just to name a few. The hearty tones of the interiors and the textures selected for the décor relate to the natural color of the local stone utilized for the construction of this typical rural dwelling. The absolute white of the lime matches with the grey and taupe neutral tones, used mainly for the high-end pieces of furniture and the upholstery. The use of wood creates a warm atmosphere. Ceramic objects have been custom made by the artisans of Grottaglie, a small town a few kilometres from Taranto which is famous for its “pottery district”, a creative place where sophisticated terracotta works are produced. The simple yet effective neutral color palette is punctuated with a very few accents of color that take us back to the colours of this region: honey yellow to recall the sun and green to recall the olive trees. Limestone vaulted ceilings combined with uncluttered décor make the interiors visually appealing with a fresh and airy feeling, while the monochromatic color palette exudes a sense of tranquillity. The lighting is wisely used to create a magical atmosphere for relaxing in style. With the pool and garden lights illuminating this romantic spot at night, Guests will enjoy unadulterated peace. The central lamia includes a comfortable open space with a living room and a kitchenette and 2 bedrooms, both with their en-suite bathroom. The living room offers a lounge TV area featuring comfortable intimate seating for up to 6 Guests with a sofa and two armchairs. A Nespresso machine is available for Guests for sipping a good Italian coffee and enjoying an authentic slice of Italian life.The kitchenette offers everything Guests may need to make their stay comfortable and relaxed and may serve as a dining room on those few days when the weather is less than perfect. The dining area features a comfortable design table seating up to 8 people, with a base made of natural barked hornbeam trunk sections and a top in waxed iron plate. The cooking area is adequate for the number of people it accommodates. The queen bedrooms are provided with luxury comforts, such as the finest mattresses and high-end premium linens, and they offer comfortable wardrobes, flat screen TVs, a safe and an en-suite bathroom. The 2 beds in the main lamia are both equipped with a storage base which is perfect for creating extra room for your clothes. All bathrooms are provided with large showers and hairdryers and are stocked with luxurious courtesy toiletries by Essentia Puglia, a renowned Apulian organic and natural cosmetic brand providing the beneficial essences directly from nature, not tested on animals and without harmful artificial chemicals. Our Guests will enjoy a collection of shampoo, body cream and body wash made with extra virgin olive oil and vintage grapes from Apulia’s ancient olive trees and native grape vines of Alto Salento and Itria Valley. All bedrooms are equipped with mosquito nets and blackout curtains. The adjacent trullo, with its own independent entrance, adds to the original charm of this home featuring a real suite with a queen-size bed and en-suite bathroom located in an open alcove. The bathroom is a real “gem”: carved into the stone of the ancient trullo, it offers a double shower and an unparalleled cosy atmosphere. Discovering Apulia while living in its iconic local architecture is a special experience from the very start! While outdoors you are in your private sun-soaked, yet always breezy oasis, indoor you will not feel the heat thanks to the special construction of the lamia and the trulli which creates an air-chamber that absorbs changes in temperature. The main attraction of Lamia del Riccio, what we would call its “wow” effect, is the magnificent outdoor area where Guests will relax in the serenity of the outdoor living spaces and the breathtaking landscape where privacy is paramount. In addition, the bountiful and lush fruit trees offer fresh seasonal produce for Guests to pluck and taste. The villa offers plenty of relaxation opportunities, under the shadow of ancient olive trees or of small gazebos scattered along the manicured lawn. Here Guests will enjoy company or – why not, some good private time alone: the perfect balance between intimacy and conviviality. The stone-paved sun-drenched sun deck near the 40 sqm swimming-pool, surrounded by effusive lawns, features lounge chairs and comfortable sunbeds where to relax after a day spent to discover the area. Two outdoor showers are there for Guests to cool off on those hot summer days. The outdoor gazebo overlooking the swimming-pool with its fully equipped kitchen, a dining table seating up to 12 Guests and a Weber barbecue is the perfect stage for hour-long meals to enjoy with friends and family. All household appliances and equipments are there for our Guests, ready to be used: induction hob, dishwasher, small fridge and ice machine. A lounge area with a comfortable sofa and armchairs complete the relaxing atmosphere of this magical place, making it the epitome of stylish Italian al fresco living. The Property also features an outdoor laundry with washing machine, clotheshorse, iron and ironing board and cleaning products. Guests will enjoy free wifi both indoor and outdoors. The villa is alarmed and connected to a 24/24 security service, thus guaranteeing the appropriate privacy of these ample secluded grounds.
