Portugal Active Armada's Lodge is a recently renovated villa, with original construction dating of 1501.
The works gave the place a contemporary touch while keeping the original structures and respecting it's architecture.
Featuring a fully naturally filtered pool and amazing mountain views, this property is ideal for groups and families looking to spend their holidays in connection with the nature and with maximum privacy.

In 1501, construction began on the Jeronimus Monestary in Lisbon. It took 100 years to build. During the same year the Quinta da Armada was built by one of the skippers who accompanied Vasco da Gama to the Horn of Africa.

Over the centuries, there had been additions to the Quinta. Recently works were done to removed these appendages to the original structures, treating the original Manueline architecture with care and respect restoring it to the original detail, while giving additional stone structures a more contemporary touch. Everything was done in the traditional stone work of the region. Of course there were some adjustments to be made to the original architecture. The entrance, which was wide enough for a horse, had to be enlarged to allow for cars to enter. The original coat of arms which was effaced to avoid paying a tax, except for the ornamental rope framing it, was now redesigned to represent it's new owner coat of arms.

Otherwise, the project was made as green as possible. The electricity and heating are solar. The pool is Eco, technically a pond! Fruit trees and bushes were planted. A large vegetable garden is being prepared as well as an area for herbs and edible flowers. These all will be further developed.

We are cutting back on plastic consumption. Everything is recycled, as well as composted. We welcome any suggestions both ecological or otherwise, from our guests.
