Situated directly between two world-class golf courses, Buttons By The Beach is a unique and tranquil off-grid getaway. Cosy-up in front of the indoor or outdoor fire, or wander with the wallabies across 32 acres of beach-front property.
This peaceful property offers both indoor and outdoor entertaining areas, a fully equipped kitchen, garage gym, all within close proximity of Wickham Golf Course (30m north), Ocean Dunes Golf Course (20m south) and surfing hot spots.
Situated on 32 acres of oceanfront property on the west coast of King Island, Buttons by the Beach is a secluded off-grid house with unobstructed views of the Southern Ocean and rugged landscape from almost every room. Perched into a sand dune and protected from the elements, Buttons by the Beach is the perfect place to relax and unwind from the rigours of life in this remote and cosy setting It is the ideal place for golfers who want to relax after a long day on King Island's magnificent courses, surfers who love watching the waves roll in or for those who just want to get away from it all and feel truly at ease.
Outdoor entertaining areas
The house has two outdoor entertaining areas: one facing north overlooking the ocean and one indoor atrium (protected from the elements), complete with dining table, fireplace, BBQ and vegetable/herb garden (help yourself to any of the vegetables/herbs, season-dependent).
Dining room and kitchen
The grand 8-seater dining table has hosted many dinner parties with friends. The kitchen has absolutely everything you will ever need to entertain and the pantry is well-stocked with essentials (cereal, spreads, pasta, sauces, oils etc). A mini-barista coffee machine, toaster, blender are available for use, however, due to the off-grid power limitations there isn’t a microwave or dishwasher.
Living room
From the living room, you’ll take-in the breathtaking view of the rugged west coast of King Island and the wild Southern Ocean. With the waves rolling in, no day or hour is ever the same; some days it’s calm and flat like a lake and other days the roaring 40’s makes it one of the most treacherous seas on the planet (there’s even a shipwreck on our doorstep). The large windows in the living area are cleverly designed by facing north to not only capture the best views but also to heat the whole house in the afternoon. The cosy living area is the heart of the home and it is simply magical sitting in there at any time of the day. The Nectre fire heater is as rustic as it gets and when the logs are burning in the evening you will feel no greater sense of relaxation. Curl up with a blanket, glass of wine, cheese platter and watch a movie.
Bedrooms
The three bedrooms and office space with futon sofa are all set up for a blissful night’s sleep. The sheets, pillows and comforters are of the finest quality and we assure you a wonderful night’s sleep in any of the beds. The two bathrooms servicing the house are spotlessly clean throughout and quality bodywash, shampoo and conditioner is provided for your convenience.
Gym
The gym in the garage is available for those who want to get their sweat on during their stay. There is a squat rack, competition barbell, Olympic weight plates, inclined bench, TRX suspension, stretch bands, dumbbells, plyo box, kettlebells, shakti mat,yoga mats, skipping ropes, battle ropes and more. Beach towels, fishing rods, a beach tent, surf boards are also available for our guests’ enjoyment at the beach.
Off-grid
Buttons by the Beach is 100% off-grid and has zero reliance on mains infrastructure. The house uses a combination of solar and wind to generate energy which is stored in batteries. The house faces north to optimise solar power generation. The water is supplied from two sources: a natural spring 500m away and a rainwater tank. Natural gas heats hot water and the oven/stove.
