Located in the upper Mary River Valley in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Cookes Road Cottage is the ideal destination to base your country getaway.

Sited high on the end of a ridge overlooking a 5-acre dam, the 120-year-old workers cottage has 360-degree views of quality farming country with the Conondale Ranges in the background.

The property itself is 325 acres of creek flats and gently rolling green hills, being the home of the breeding herd for the Waringle Droughtmaster Stud.

The cottage has recently undergone a major refurbishment, with quality tradespeople using locally-sourced, sustainable hardwood, to create a traditional-looking 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom dwelling with new kitchen and 3-metre deep verandahs on the eastern, northern and western sides.

All bedrooms open on to the verandah - a perfect location to enjoy the spectacular sunsets! The master bedroom has private access to the ensuite bathroom, which has been styled with traditional brass and timber fittings. The second bedroom faces north-east, with the third bedroom having additional sleeping opportunities with a double/single bunk bed, with a pull-out trundle underneath.

The main bathroom has a more modern appeal, with walk-in shower, large bathtub and two vanity basins.

An open plan dining/loungeroom features high ceilings and a wood fireplace, perfect for those winter nights, and the whole house has very efficient ducted, reverse-cycle air conditioning.

The kitchen also uses local red cedar and silky-oak timbers and features a butlers pantry and quality whitegoods, including a full size oven, induction cooktop, microwave and full size refrigerator.

Gently sloping ramp access, a 15,000 gallon underground rainwater tank and a fully equipped laundry are just a few more of the cottage’s features.

Guests will have access to the whole cottage and house yard, however no access is provided to the working areas of the cattle property.

The hosts live 10 minutes away and are available at certain times to provide on-site assistance. You will not be disturbed during your stay, with the rare exception of when cattle may be rounded up near the cottage.

Whilst you may just like to relax with a good book on the verandah, Conondale is conveniently located halfway between Maleny and Kenilworth, Maleny with its many great restaurants, cafes and artisan shopping; Kenilworth with its famous cheese factory and bakery. Conondale itself has a general store with food, fuel, gas and firewood. Less than one hour easy drive will get you to Noosa to the north and Caloundra to the south.

The Blackall and Conondale Ranges abound with National Parks, walking trails, waterfalls and creeks to swim in. Nearby Baroon Pocket Dam is great for kayaking and fishing, and Maleny Golf Club features an award-winning 18-hole golf course.

A vehicle is required to access the property and there is a gravel driveway from the street to the property. Some parts of Cookes Road are not sealed.
