Parks & Gardens – The 'Regent's Park of the East End', Victoria Park is a 86-hectare verdant expanse of ornamental lakes, landmarks, tennis courts, flower beds and lawns. It immediately picked up a notoriety for being the 'People’s Park' when numerous huge political rallies were held here. The bunch of exceedingly tall eucalyptuses is the principle highlight of the park. Victoria Park is an ornithological hot spot where the birders would spend extended periods.
Lakes - A worth visiting place is the Gregory Lake in Nuwara Eliya. One can spend the evening around this beautiful lake and enjoy the beauty of the place while tasting some delicious delicacies. If you want you can also go for a motorboat ride, paddle boat ride or a pony ride along the walkways. Small rides for your young ones are also available.
Tea Gardens – Head to the Pedro Tea Estate, if you want to see where your morning cuppa comes from. The tea factory is an interesting place that one can give a try to visit in order to understand the processes involved in tea cultivation. Guided tour option to the factory is available for the tourists. Overlooking the plantation is a cool teahouse where tea tasting can be done.
From its Tudor-style houses to whimsical churches, or the smell of the freshly cut tealeaves Nuwara Eliya will transport you back to the 19th century England. It was a hill retreat for the British, who would spend their time here in hunting, playing golf, cricket.
