The beach is dog-friendly, offers great snorkelling opportunities, its north end is clothing-optional and is patrolled by lifeguards on select dates. Belongil is ideal for a long beach walk, being less crowded than Byron’s Main Beach. It is relatively safe for swimming, however, it’s best to swim on the southern end near Byron Bay and when the beach is patrolled. Please check the Byron Shire Council website for local surf lifesaving information or the Beach Safe Website for more details. Please use direct beach access from Manfred St, due to current pathway construction. The public bus network and numerous bicycle paths make it easy to get around Byron Bay. Taxis, hire cars and bus tours are also available. Byron Solar Train The Byron Bay Railroad Company train service is open to all welcoming the local community and visitors to ride. Please be aware Byron Shire Council have a strict no-noise policy. Any loud noise, shouting, or parties will not be tolerated and will incur a bond charge of $500 if a call is received to this office. If persistent then eviction will occur with no refunds. Byron Shire Council have restricted holiday letting to only 60 days a year across the shire due to persistent noise pollution from guests. There are key places that allow 365 days which are located along the beachfront streets only, including Belongil Beach and Wategos.
