Temple Gulley and the Nature Trails (the latter opposite the entrance
to the Forestry Dept HQ some 200metres before the temple) and the
steps of the temple itself. The entrance to other trails such as
the jungle trail, accessed from opposite the resting area on the
temple steps, were obscured and looked overgrown. Birds around the
Temple include Violet Cuckoo, Golden-fronted, Blue-winged and Orange-bellied
Leafbird, Greater, Lesser and Black-throated Laughingthrush, White-tailed

Chiang Dao: There is a new Nature Trail which starts opposite the
road up to the Forestry Office (where one gets permits for DYK substation).
The first part of the trail past the little bridge, where it runs
through a low area with several damp gulleys, was reliable for Rusty-naped
Pitta. The trail soon starts to climb, ..., you can walk the firebreak
which runs inside the fence. This gets very steep but it is quite
birdy. more
